Spirit of DIII at it's finest.

With talk of some possible rule modification in the future, as it pertains to out of region games, let's look at a DIII program with a long and storied history. Beloit College. I won't site each case in which Beloit has defeated a team that is now a DI, because those games happened a long time ago, and possibly even in a galaxy far far away.......................

If rules are amended to allow out of region games to count as in region because they occur during holiday breaks, I really don't care. The occasional win against somebody from the other side of the country doesn't matter as much as what you do against teams you regularly face. For the sake of argument a "regular" opponent is someone that you have played 20 or more times. If you disagree with "The Roop", get your own blog and write your nonsense there.

Regular opponents for Beloit are as follows: Carleton, Carroll, Carthage, U of Chicago, Coe, Cornell, Grinnell, Illinois College, IIT (Armour Tech), Knox, Lake Forest, Lawrence, Monmouth, Northwestern (WI), Ripon, Rockford, St. Norbert, St. Olaf, Washington U, and Wheaton. Hard to believe that there are only 20 teams on that list. 14 of which are current or former conference members. Of the teams on the list only Carleton, St. Norbert and Washington U. have winning records against Beloit.

In conclusion, I don't see a need to modify any existing rules as there is already a way to count games against out of region opponents. It's called the NCAA Tournament. Win your in region games first and then you can go after bragging rights games when they matter most. Here ends the lesson.....................
