D4 Independents catch a break.

With the Holiday break looming, contracts have been signed which will enable the D4 Independent teams to reach the 30 game minimum required for post season play. The U.C.W.I. has received 4 D5 applications for membership to their conference for the 2006-2007 season and a round robin event will be held this year. Games against St. Academia, Nazarene Baptist, Sinai Lutheran and Accredited College will count towards D4 games this season.

Additionally, the D4 Independents will also have home and home games with D1 Electoral College.

The final standings in the PowerNet Mobile Non-LNCUTMV Tournament are as follows:

tie Reservation State 3-0

The M.A.N.I.A.C. compiled an impressive 9-3 record during the event. Even more impressive is the fact that only one of the losses was to someone outside their conference. The independents went 7-5 while the U.C.W.I., who produced last years national runner up, went 2-10; with two of their new teams going winless.

The season opening LNCUTMV Tournament was not without surprises either as perennial powerhouse Southern NAIA Tech-Hooterville dropped all 3 of their games to finish last.

1st Daisy Moses Medical College 3-0
2nd Bugtussle State 2-1
3rd Bodine Military Academy 2-1
4th Pigs Knuckle Hollow-Creekside 1-2
5th Southern NAIA Tech 2-1
6th Alaska-Adak 1-2
7th Mount Pilot Central State 1-2
8th Southern NAIA Tech-Hooterville 0-3

Since no one entered this weeks "Pick em" contest, the prize fund ($0) will carry over to the next scheduled weekend of play. Which will be 12/2, 12/3 and 12/4*

D4 Season kicks off with 2 Tournaments

All 20 D4 teams will be participating in two season opening tournaments starting Friday. Pairings for the Non-LNCUTMV Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin A&M-Springstead and Presented by PowerNet Mobile. Official cellular provider of "The Roop" are as follows:

Since it's impossible to evenly bracket a 12 team tournament the top 8 teams listed will compete in the Championship bracket and the lower 4 teams will be in the Field bracket. It is possible for teams in the Field bracket to play each other twice in the three game event. It is also possible to have two undefeated and two 0-3s at the completion of the Tournament. Pairings for the tournament were a blind draw and there will be 2 in-conference match ups in the first round. These will of course be considered non-conference games as far as the remainder of the season goes.

A "Pick em" is available for this tournament but you need to count the games correctly to determine the match ups in the Field bracket for the final day of competition. Game 9 winner will face game 12 winner and game 9 loser will face game 12 loser.

In the LNCUTMV Conference Tip Off Tournament the pairings are as follows:

Alaska-Adak
Daisy Moses Medical College

Pigs Knuckle Hollow-Creekside
Mount Pilot Central State

Southern NAIA Tech-Hooterville
Bodine Military Academy

Bugtussle State
Southern NAIA Tech

"Pick em" contest is also available.

Games will be played in the newly remodeled and renamed Sam Drucker Court at Haney Automotive Arena.
